New and much better articulated journal entry.

Tue Jul 7, 2009, 3:08 PM
I may have come across as mildly drunk or completely disinterested in that last entry but I was neither. No, I was just in a hurry and wanting to peck out whatever noisy bit of brain static was the first to race to my motor cortex. I'll make this one a bit more detailed and hopefully not get into a lengthy rant, promise.

There are three subjects I'm going to address right now, all presented to you now in order. Photography, prose and traditional art. These are the three fields which I have worked in in the past, the three I'm comfortable with and the three I have in my gallery. The first of which I've actually been dabbling in ever since I got a Kodak 110 camera some time around '94 or '95, but don't expect to see any of those early photos here.

Now on to photography, first topic's first. I haven't had the chance to get out and do much more photography as of late, been stranded at the old homestead much to my dismay (Especially after spending the tail end of February and much of March 120 miles from home having more fun and being more active than I've been in years) but I hope to change that soon. Hopefully I can start pestering some of my friends to model for me as well, I already have a few shots of one but I won't be posting those since I haven't and won't ask for her permission.

No, they're not nude. Not even close. Most of them were just snapped when she wasn't paying attention or late at night so she doesn't much like them. Oh well, first ones I've ever taken of someone trying to be artistic so it doesn't much hurt my feelings I'm not going to be sharing them. Thinking of learning how to do a bit of editing to go along with my photography, I've had a few turn out good but still lacking something and I haven't been able to make any changes so now is as good a time as any to pick that up.

From photography we move on to prose. As I half-assed mention last time I am still writing and making decent progress with my book but I'm not going to be sharing much more here or if I do it will be out-of-order chapters because I'm getting protective of my work the more time I spend on it. Photography I wouldn't feel TOO hurt about if someone stole credit for it, but prose? I've been working on these two books since '05 and I'm afraid that would drive me on a Fugitive style hunt to find the one-armed bastard who stole my work.

Finally we come to traditional art, which I have far fewer examples of. I'm still drawing though not nearly as much as when I was younger and I'm not keeping most of what I create. Mostly cards and such, trying to get some hours logged so that I can get my skill back up to par, y'know? It's good practice and I can make far more personal in-joke type cards for friends than I would find at any store. Don't expect me to scan any of those though, mostly because my Canon LIDE scanner is refusing to work with Linux. I'll sort that sooner or later, promise.
